What is a hysteroscopy?

A hysteroscopy provides Dr. Ardalan a more in-depth look at your cervix and uterus. You may need this procedure due to abnormal bleeding or severe cramping. She inserts a lighted instrument into your vagina to get an up-close look at specific reproductive organs and diagnose abnormalities and irregularities.

What is Endosee?

A traditional hysteroscopy is performed with a cumbersome hysteroscope, a thin tube with a light affixed to the end. Traditional hysteroscopy is scheduled as a minor surgical procedure, often with general anesthesia.

Endosee is a handheld, portable, and cordless system that makes the process of a hysteroscopy more comfortable, faster, and effective in providing a diagnosis. Endosee procedures take about three minutes and usually require no anesthesia. The process is done right in the office and scheduled just like a regular appointment.

Who is a candidate for an Endosee procedure?

Dr. Ardalan may recommend Endosee if you have abnormal Pap test results. Other reasons you may need the diagnostic procedure include:

• Bleeding after menopause
• Irregular, abnormal uterine bleeding
• Suspected fibroids, scarring, or polyps on your uterus
• An IUD that has slipped from its place
• Needing a tissue biopsy

If you have unexplained infertility or multiple miscarriages, Dr. Ardalan may want to get a closer look at your uterus to find a cause, too.

What should I expect during Endosee?

The Endosee procedure is performed at their office and you go home the same day. You lie on an exam table and place your feet in stirrups, just as you would for a pelvic exam. Dr. Ardalan places the thin Endosee tube into your cervix and inside your uterus, and then the images are displayed on a monitor.

Most women have no discomfort during the procedure or any after effects. In a few cases, spotting, cramps, and discomfort may occur temporarily. These side effects can be eased with over-the-counter or prescription pain relievers.

What are the benefits of Endosee?

Endosee offers a number of advantages over conventional hysteroscopy. These include:
